Knitting FAQs

What is a good beginning project to start with?

Scarves, dish towels, and small blankets are a good way to get practice because they often involve using only one or two types of stitches. Basically any pattern with only one to two types of stitches will be relatively easy.

I find working with the loom difficult; does this mean I can’t make hats or socks?

No! If looms aren’t your thing then try using a circular knitting needle, for those used to using knitting needles it’s not much different.

.I have never knitted before, would starting on a loom be a bad idea?

A basic knitting loom is not hard to use. Look for basic round or oval looms and you can create hats and scarves. Looms don’t restrict you to just circular items; flat articles can be made too.

I am an animal activist and choose to not use animal fibers, what are my options for yarn?

Organic cotton and bamboo yarn are a great natural alternative to animal fibers. Synthetic yarns are also available.
