  Circles of the East by Kumiko Sudo-- Lovely book, discusses the use of crests on kimonos and includes more than 35 applique quilt blocks that reproduce traditional crest designs. Full size patterns are in the back.
  Quilter's Complete Guide by Fons and Porter-- a good basic guide to many different kinds of quilting, It assumes you are a beginner -- goes over techniques and has projects for you to learn on.
  Mastering Machine Applique by Harriet Hargrave-- Very useful book teaches you how to applique with your sewing machine using satin stitch, blanket stitch, and invisible applique. Covers material and techniques useful to this type of quilting. I used it to make the bunny quilt.
  Teach Yourself machine Piecing and Quilting by Debra Wagner OOP
  Applique! Applique! Applique! :The Complete Guide to Hand Applique by Laurene Sinema--Projects used to demonstrate techniques
  Designing Tessellations by Jinny Beyer-- Wow! If you ever wanted to make an Escher-type drawing or quilt, this is the book you'll need. It's pretty amazing.
  A Celtic Garden by Philomena Durcan-- pattern book combines celtic knotwork with floral applique
  Trapunto and Other Forms of Raised Quilting by Morgan and Mosteller OOP -- Quite an old book, so many of the pictures look very out of date, but the techniques are useful.
  Applique Alphabet: Fruit and Flower Letter Designs for You to Make by Stewart Merrett-- A very pretty design for each letter of the alphabet. Each letter is shown as a pillow. Applique used is satin stitch, but I'll bet you could use other techniques if you wanted to.
  1000 great quilting designs by luise Roberts -- this book concentrates on quilting designs (not block patterns). Lots of good ones in here.
